Pictures from the 1998 Ordination Ceremony

In May, 1998, the first-ever Ordination was held at Hong Fa Temple located in Shen Zhen, South China's newest city. Hong Fa Temple is one the most modern and popular Chan Buddhist Temples in China. Three hundred monks, including one American, Chuan Zhi Shakya, the Webmaster and Abbot of the Zen Buddhist Order of Hsu Yun, all took their vows during the heavily publicized month-long ceremony.

The worlds' top three Zen Buddhist masters, Ben Huan, Abbot of Hong Fa Si; Sou Zi, Abbot of Ming Kwang Temple in New York City's Chinatown; and Jy Din, the Spiritual head of ZBOHY, attended the ceremony, along with seven other masters from around the world.
